The Enkianthus perulatus has 10 subspecies, originating in the Himalaya. In Japan this plant has been cultivated for centuries.

Growing up to 2 m high, this plant is cultivated as a bonsai as well. In our moderate climate this plant is an excellent choice for the outside. Popular especially on account of its magnificent blossoms, which develop depending on the kind at different times and in different colors. In this size it is a rarity on the European market.
