This cold-resistant banana is one of our most interesting new products in the last years. It exists in the South Eastern Himalaya up to a height of 2000 m and is a large variety, whose reddish trunk reaches 4,5 m in height and 45 cm diameter. Fresh shoots and sometimes mature leaves are of reddish color or pattern. This variety produces edible, sweet fruit, which contain, however, plenty of seeds. To keep this plant outdoors throughout the winter, the roots have to be protected from frost. For this you can use a large box, filled with leaves and straw and plastic foil to guard against rain.
